Announcement Day!

This Christmas may have been my favorite Christmas to date. For weeks Richard and I have been anticipating the arrival of our families. We were so happy that most of them could make it. This is a rare event! My sister Mary Ann and her husband Matthew drove from Iowa, and through blizzard conditions to be here. Richard's parents, through a turn of events, were able to make it too and we were just over the moon excited to have them all here. This Christmas would be one to remember, because we would be announcing to our families our plans to adopt! Richard and I had been crafting this surprise for a while. I went to Hobby Lobby and bought all kinds of paints, stencils, canvas and a brushes to paint this....

We wrapped the canvas up in shiny gold paper and Richard brought it out as "the present he forgot about." ;) The family gathered around, they could tell something was up. Richard's sister and our sweet niece and nephew were watching from Texas via facetime on the iPad. This is how it went...

I felt as if I might pass out. My hands were shaking. So much emotion had been brewing secretly inside of me and now it was able to burst forth. There were lots of hugs, happy tears, clapping, and shock-and-awe!!! We handed out brochures with information about the who, when, where, how and whys. We also gave each member of the family a pewter charm. A tiny African animal, as a token to remember to pray for our one-day-child.

We are so very thankful for the love and support of family and friends. We know this will be a long and trying process, and that this is just barely the beginning. Please, continue to pray for our family, and thanks for taking the time to read our blog!
